Skiing in St Moritz – Home of Alpine Winter Tourism

St Moritz

Luxuriate in Switzerland’s former Olympic Resort

Switzerland’s resort of St Moritz is a special place. In 1864, thanks to hotelier Johannes Badrutt and his claims of 300 days of sunshine a year, it became the original Alpine Winter Tourism destination and has since twice played host to the Winter Olympics.

Bring your bling and you’ll fit right in

Glitterati, fashionistas and celebrities flock to the resort year on year. With so much glitz and glamour, S’No Queens will feel right at home so long as you remember to pack your designer thermals and your other most stylish outfits.

With a feel more akin to a cosmopolitan capital than an Alpine Village, you’ll find yourself surrounded by designer shops, diamonds and gourmet eateries. Hardly a surprise when you consider that St Moritz is strategically located between Zurich and Milan.

Amongst the finest Skiing in the world

The highest resort in Switzerland. Featuring over two hundred miles of piste, 56 ski lifts and 115 miles of cross country ski trails, it’s no wonder that St. Moritz is the winter playground of the international Jetset. There are five main ski areas; Corviglia, Furtschellas, Diavolezza, Corvatsch and Lagalb and air so fresh it’s been described a ‘Champagne Climate’. With credentials like these, it’s no surprise that the skiing in St Moritz is something special.

Lake St Moritz

That Olympic heritage means that skiing isn’t the only winter sport that can be enjoyed at or around the resort. There’s spectacular scenery too. Lake St Moritz, from which the resort gains it’s name is especially beautiful and when it freezes over the winter, plays host to numerous sports activities, most notably the world famous ‘White Turf’ horse races which have taken place for well over a century. As the name suggests, the frozen lake serves as the surface for equestrian racing. Polo and cricket matches have also been played on the lakes icy surface.

Every S’No Queen should add a visit to St Moritz to her bucket list, but be warned, once you’ve experienced the opulence f the surrounding, the spectacular skiing, the culture and the scenery, you’ll probably never want to go anywhere else. In any case, pack your sparkling designer thermals and prepare for the ski holiday of your life!
