Skiing in the Summer at Les Deux Alpes
From March each year, the European ski scene starts to go into heat hibernation as the Spring reduces the skiable snow at every major resort. For the dedicated powder seeker, this might usually mean booking longer flights to get to slopes elsewhere in the world, but not every European resort closes down, some regularly retain enough of the white stuff to make them skiable even into Summer.
Located in south-west France, the resort of Les Deux Alpes sits atop the largest skiable glacier in Europe which enables the resort to remain open for skiing for much of the year. While the skiable area is much reduced from the 225 kilometres of pistes available in the winter, there are still plenty of worthwhile ski runs to enjoy for riders of all abilities.
With reliable summer snow, expect the resort to be fairly busy. To get the best out of the summer snow, be prepared to get up early in the morning while when the slopes will be freshly groomed and in better condition, and plane to get to your Apres of choice by early afternoon and spend a leisurely afternoon lounging in your designer thermals.
More chances to show off your S’No Queen Thermals
Where there’s snow, there’s cold. You’ll still to pack all your layers with skiing on Les Deux Alpes in the summer, but be prepared to swap them more frequently. The mountains will still be cold, but the temperatures will rise as you descend, so you may well find yourself stripped down to your S’No Queen thermals long before you reach the Apres, so take the chance to admire how the glittering sparkles of your favourite thermals sparkle in that summer sunshine – everyone else will!
With more opportunities to show off your sparkle, perhaps you’ll need to increase your collection so you’ve got more in your wardrobe to show off! Check out our fabulous designs and treat yourself to even more thermals you’ll want to be seen in!
